Troubleshooting NGAL/LA23

Find quick troubleshooting answers for the SomoGear NGAL/LA23, including battery installation, LED indicator status, tail jack spring issues, rail mounting, recoil-related power interruption, zeroing, and IR laser or illuminator visibility.

Always install the battery with the positive terminal facing the battery cap. If the device does not power on, remove the battery and check the battery direction, battery condition, and contact points before testing again with a new or fully charged battery.

If the device keeps flashing while it is not set to flash mode, the battery is likely low. Please replace it with a new or fully charged battery and test again.

The LED indicator helps show the device status:

Green light= Working correctly
Red light= Low battery
Orange light= Programming mode

Please check the silver O-ring spring inside the tail jack and make sure it is not deformed or damaged. If the spring is deformed, or if the metal wires of the springs are touching each other, it may cause a short circuit and prevent the device from turning off.

To fix this issue, carefully remove the damaged spring with tweezers and install a new spring into the three designated grooves. Once the spring is installed correctly, the device should work normally.

If you need a replacement spring, please contact SomoGear support at support@somogear.com.

First, make sure the battery is installed in the correct direction and that the battery is new, fully charged, and not faulty. If possible, test the device again with another new battery.

If the device still does not work, please send a short video to support@somogear.com. The video should clearly show the battery being installed, the device being activated, and the LED indicator light status.

The SomoGear NGAL/LA23 mount is designed for standard MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rails. If the mount does not fit your rail properly, please check whether your rail follows the standard Picatinny specification.

There are also two black gaskets included in the box. Attach them to the rail as shown in the product reference image, then install the device again. This usually helps improve the fit on certain rail setups.

If the device cuts off during GBB recoil, the battery may be moving inside the battery compartment under recoil. Please place a strong O-ring inside the battery compartment and test again.

This helps improve battery contact and may reduce recoil-related power interruption.

Due to production and machining limitations, not all units have a clear clicking sound during zeroing adjustment. This does not affect the zeroing function.

You can still adjust windage and elevation normally even if the adjustment does not produce an audible or tactile click.

Please test the IR illuminator or IR laser in a dark environment and away from strong light sources. Bright ambient light, indoor lighting, or direct light exposure can make the IR output harder to see under night vision devices.

Also make sure your night vision device is working properly and is suitable for detecting the IR wavelength used by the product.

First, turn both the elevation and windage adjustment screws clockwise to the end. Then begin the zeroing process again slowly and carefully.

Make sure you are adjusting the correct control points and testing in a proper environment. If the issue continues, please contact the SomoGear Support team with a short video to support@somogear.com

What should I do if the troubleshooting steps do not solve the issue?
