There’s just something about the oversized PEQ-2A sitting on top of a rifle that instantly brings back the early GWOT era. If you’re building a Block I, Mk18 Mod 0, or any old-school clone, nothing looks quite right without one.

The appearance is spot on, the controls feel authentic, and under NVGs the laser and illuminator are actually very usable. It’s not just a display piece — it’s something you can genuinely take out and train with.

For anyone who appreciates old-school gear but still wants practical functionality, this is an easy recommendation.

The beam has a strong hotspot that reaches farther than the lumen rating would suggest, making positive target identification much easier at night. The light cuts through ambient lighting surprisingly well and the IR function has worked flawlessly with my night vision setup.

Anyone familiar with the original Insight WMX200 knows that while it’s an iconic light, the output feels dated by modern standards. SomoGear kept the classic WMX200 appearance almost perfectly while significantly upgrading the light output to something much more practical for today’s use.

The increased candela makes a huge difference when identifying targets at distance, and the beam reaches much farther than the original unit ever could. At the same time, it still retains the exact look that clone builders are after.

For me, this is the perfect combination of clone-correct aesthetics and modern weapon light performance.

It’s lightweight, easy to access, and provides exactly the amount of light needed for navigation, equipment checks, and map reading. The controls are intuitive even while wearing gloves.

The output is especially well balanced under NVGs. It’s bright enough to be useful without causing excessive bloom, yet dim enough to preserve night vision and maintain good light discipline.

Before this, I was running another brand of helmet light. While it was functional, the output was simply too bright under NVGs and often created unnecessary glare. The HS6 feels much better tuned for actual night vision use and is far more comfortable during extended training sessions.

Excellent value and a great addition to any helmet setup.

Under NVGs the system provides an additional layer of situational awareness that standard marker lights simply don’t offer. The controls are straightforward and the battery life has been excellent so far.

For anyone running night vision equipment, this is a very interesting addition to a helmet setup.

The hotspot is tight, intense, and gives excellent PID capability at longer distances. During low-light training I was able to clearly identify targets well beyond the range where my previous light started to wash out.

The TB640 has become my primary rifle light and I would buy another without hesitation.

No, it’s not a military-grade Wilcox unit, but at this price point I wasn’t expecting it to be. For civilian NV training and range use, it’s a solid piece of kit and adds a lot of realism to my setup.

The illuminator is the real star of the show. Under NODs the beam is clean, adjustable, and plenty usable. Laser alignment has stayed consistent and I haven’t had any issues with zero shift.

For the money, I honestly don’t think there’s another LAM that offers this much performance. Would absolutely buy another one.

The buttons pads and clicks feel great on the PEQ and pressure switch. The crane cable connector mounts firmly and doesn’t not come loose or doesn’t rotate easily. The rotary switch for the laser and light settings is solid and clicks firmly. The laser and light covers hang on well and are firm. Battery caps are solid and don’t rotate easily, batteries are secure. The PEQ laser appears to be zeroed and ready up to a certain distance.

The PEQ stickers/labels are high quality, it seems to be water resistant and the adhesive bonds firmly to surface of the PEQ, doesn’t come off easily.

The Old School model seems to be better than the IR Illuminator model give the huge price difference. If you personally can’t afford night vision, then there’s no need to get the IR Illuminator model. The Old School model is just fine.

Overall, it is a firm product for under $80, no other PEQ replica comes close to this quality at this price. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
